LinkedIn Audience Growth (Jun 2024 - Jul 2025)
One of my interest areas lies in social media management, and I have a particular passion for using LinkedIn for business promotion and professional networking.
During my fixed term role as Business Development Manager & GP Liaison for Prince of Wales Private Hospital, an part of the role included being involved in social media managment.
Without going into specifics, I undertook an unsanctioned and unofficial experiment - how successful could a hospital LinkedIn page be in the space of 12 months?
Embarking on this quest in June 2024, I launched and grew the hospital’s LinkedIn page.
Prior to this, there was no LinkedIn Page for the hospital - only a placeholder “ghost” page with 500-600 followers.
On the 28th June, I silently activated the page, and posted a farewell message to the outgoing General Manager (Hospital CEO).
My idea was simple, prove a point - that it doesn’t take massive efforts or work to have a business social media presence.
In the span of 12 months I doubled the followers with organic content only (no paid or sponsored growth).
There were celebrations of milestones, specialists being involved in international events, and promotion of new service offerings.
Understandly there are varying opinions on the place, role, and appriopriateness of social media for doctors/hospitals. I’d be very happy to chat about this more, as there are some very quick wins that will yield both personal and professional benefits.
Note: there are rules and regulations surrounding social media use for doctors/hospitals (APHRA / TGA Guidelines). There are ways to have an online presence and not make mistakes (and the rules aren’t too complicated).
