Nov 2024 - Filming in Theatres

In Nov 2024 I managed and coordinated filming of Prince of Wales Private Hospital’s first MAKO surgical case.

This was done to celebrate the milestone for the hospital, the expansion of it’s robotic surgery offerings, and just another addition to the amazingly strong orthopaedics program.

Organising the logistics, crew, filming, legal and ethical consents, and also making the session as easy, smooth, and safe as possible for the clincal teams. A friend in the industry suggested that this is actually what a producer does - I wouldn’t be able to claim that, perhaps bespoke hospital filming producer.

The experience taught me valuable lessons in the pre-work needed to plan and prepare for a shoot, the importance of coordination and communcation, respecting the rule of the runsheet, governing the filming and legal requirements, and respecting the impact and needs of all involved.

In total, I was involved in 3 successful filming sessions;

1 - First MAKO Case - w/ Dr. Akshay Kamra
2 - Importance of Robotic Surgery - w/ Dr. David Broe
3 - Sky News Segment “Revolutionary Back Surgery” - w/ Prof Ralph Mobbs & Dr Chris Huang

Sky News wanted to do a story about Endoscopic Spine Surgery and it featured a really great patient story. You can read the news article here, and watch the Sky News video;
